paint.net 4.1.1 is now available!

This is a hotfix for version 4.1 that fixes a few small bugs, reinstates some keyboard shortcuts, and adds 2 new languages.

If you’re using the Windows Store release, you should get the update automatically within the next few days.

For the Classic release, you can use the built-in updater by going to ⚙ Settings → Updates → Check Now. You can also download it directly from the website.

Thanks to @toe_head2001, @ReMake, and @Dandelion Sprout for helping out on this release!

Changes:

  • New: Ukranian translation (thanks @ReMake!)
  • New: Norwegian translation (thanks @Dandelion Sprout!)
  • Fixed a bug in the IndirectUI color wheel control where it wouldn’t pick up the correct value for the alpha slider
  • Fixed a crash with the new Shapes that would sometimes occur because the resources file wasn’t updated yet (probably due to a "you have to reboot" dialog at the end of updating that was ignored)
  • Reinstated the shortcut keys for the Adjustments menu, as this was a very unpopular change
  • Improved: IndirectUI angle chooser control now supports the UpDownIncrement property (thanks @toe_head2001!)

Enjoy!

Thank you very much for this wonderful application. I deeply appreciate your job. God bless you.

Earlier it was possible to cancel the selection tool with the “escape” key. It will be fix?

      • Lolozoid says:

this problem has appeared for a long time. when the program stopped working on Windows xp. If you select the selection tool and select an area, you can previously deselect by pressing the escape button on keyboard. try to select area and press escape -> no effect.

        PS
It works when 1. use select area, 2. select area, 3. use pen or another thing in area, press escape – work! but, its not easy and good i think.

Thanks for an awsome update. Finally norwegian translation too, although I personally will continue using english UI. Agree with Lolozoid on the select area – escape button thing, it has annoyed me too a little.

In my installtion I encounter a problem with Text dimension. With the standard dimension of the sheet the character dimension is correct, but if I change sheet dimension and I put a new char with the same number of points I get a different char dimension. I come back to the previous Paint.net versione and it works fine.

If you change the resolution of the image, then the pixel size of the text will change. This is new for 4.1 and is not a bug.

If you want to use the old behavior, which is to use a fixed 96 DPI for the determining the pixel size of text, you can click the little italic “f” to the right of the font size and choose “Fixed (96 DPI)”. You can also set this to be the default from within Settings -> Tools.

I think there should be a realistic 3d editor/creator for paint.net, even though it could cost some extreme time and dedication to do though. I also think there should be a way to actually make fractals, like Mandelbrot and Julia, etc.
